The past week was like a roller coaster ride. Delegates, visitors, panelists, participants, coalition partners, members of Congress and the press were coming and going at Progressive Central all through the day, followed by meetings at night—punctuated by moments of calm.
With the whirlwind of activity, I was unable to take in the breadth and scope of what we have accomplished together since our emergence in the midst of the 2004 DNC Convention. During the seven-hour drive back to my home in Utah, I had a lot of time to think. We’ve come a long way in four years!
It was no easy task to pull this off. We did it and we did it because of you! Your work, your tenacity, your commitment to PDA really does matter, and it really makes a difference. We have their attention—the party, the media, and our elected officials—they all know who PDA is and what we stand for!
I want to share these links with you, so you can begin to share in the experience, too:
Pod casts of the Progressive Central panels in Denver are now available on the PDA blog, click here to listen.
By following this link, you can see the archives from our live stream of the panel discussions. Click the “on demand” button on the screen menu. This link will take you to stills from Progressive Central.
Check out this report from the Wall Street Journal.
Tim Carpenter was interviewed on CSPAN before the convention—find it in the Current Actions box on the right side of the PDA home page.
And don’t forget to watch this delightful interview of Healthcare NOT Warfare Co-chairs Rep. John Conyers and Donna Smith.
We still have a lot of work to do—electing Barack Obama and a governing progressive majority. But for now, pat yourself on the back, then take a deep breath and plunge back in—the next four years are going to be a wild ride!
